Back to Back Pro/Ams in the Poconos

Over the mountains and through the woods –  Last week the FlowRider FLOW Tour returned to the Northeast Region for back to back competitions at Split Rock Resort and Camelbeach Waterpark in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.  Both venues have hosted many FLOW Tour events in the past, for several years in a row, in fact!

We kicked off at Split Rock Resort’s H2Ooooh Waterpark on Friday; local flowboarders were anxious to take on traveling competitors from all around the country.

“You didn’t want to be on the outside looking in at Split Rock Resort last weekend,” states Adam Muller, FLOW Tour Coordinator.  “It was actually pouring rain outside, so the indoor location was key to keep everything smooth and everyone happy!”

Competitors battled it out on the FlowRider® Single in an effort to collect Tour points, FLOW Tour medals and awesome prizes contributed by local and official FLOW Tour sponsors, like Xterra Surf.

“The FlowRider FLOW Tour provides an added level of excitement for our local riders and waterpark guests,” explains H2Ooooh Waterpark Manager, Zach Hite.

Saturday’s competition was hosted by Camelbeach Waterpark in Tannersville, PA., just a short drive away through mountains.

Cory Woods, a local competitor, doubled up on Gold Medals at both events in the Masters Bodyboard (35+) and Mens Bodyboard (18+) divisions.

With the apple not falling far from the tree, we saw the return of local favorite, Kobe Woods.  Kobe was making his way back from an off season injury and didn’t seem to miss a beat, finding himself in the Jr. Bodyboarding Finals.

“Excellent event!” states Wayne Franks, Director of Camelbeack Mountain and Camelbeach Waterpark Operations. “Very well organized and executed,” he added.

“There were some interesting match ups last weekend too that made it a lot excitement for the spectators,” mentions Muller.

Joel Stevens, Danny Tepper and Jeremey Marks were event stand outs in the Pro Bodyboard division, claiming the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, respectively.

The Youth divisions, provided and intense, yet brotherly battle between the Newman brothers. They both proudly represent Team Boca and showcased a great display of flowboarding and provided a solid glimpse into the future of the sport.

Mike Caffrey was the top dog in the Masters division, earning himself back-to-back victories to celebrate his Birthday weekend.  His daughter, Monica Caffrey stood tall at the top the podium as well; she earned Gold Medals and valuable points towards her Female Flowboard National Title campaign.
