Prime location for a prime event!
This is not your typical hotel. Gaylord Palms is a 5-star resort offering luxury and the best Florida has to offer, all in one place!
If Gaylord Palms Resort didn’t have it all already, the property recently completed a $4.2 million expansion on their pool deck and of course they did what any of us would do with a couple million dollars – install a FlowRider® attraction to go with their new slide complex.
The resort’s new FlowRider Double, known as the “The Wake Zone,” serves as the centerpiece for all the action around the pool, along with various recreational activities for hotel guests to enjoy.
While the FlowRider has only been available to hotel guest, public riding and monthly passes will be available in the near future and pool deck will be soon be turned into a competition arena for the best flowboarders in the United States.
On Saturday, May 6th, Gaylord Palms will host Prime Stop #2 on the 2017 US FLOW Tour. This premiere event invites both professional and amateur competitors of all ages and skill sets to the resort to spend a day on the wave, competing for prizes and advancement in National Rankings.
“Hosting a FLOW Tour event is a great platform for us to not only increase awareness for our new FlowRider attraction, but also encourage traveling flowboarders to visit our venue and bring in some additional in-house excitement to our guests,” explains Director of Special Events and Entertainment at Gaylord Palms, Niko Nickolaou.
For those traveling competitors, family members and friends, the resort has offered a special discounted room rate and we encourage everyone to take advantage of provided discounts bystaying on site and supporting the host venue. Be sure you book fast, because room vacancies will not last long
“Florida has one of the larger ridership bases in the country,” mentioned Adam Muller, FLOW Tour coordinator and FlowRider representative. “In addition, this is a fairly new wave to the region that flowboarders are excited to ride and Orlando is a leader in the tourism market proving a lot of exciting opportunities off the wave for traveling competitors,” Muller added.
With flowboarders swarming in from all angles of the United States, the competition will be stacked with talent and excitement – but Gaylord Palms Resort’s staff will be cheering on their local FlowRider Pro and fellow employee, Jon Reese.
“As an avid member of the flowboarding community, I am anxiously awaiting the FlowRider FLOW Tour season to start,” said Jon Reese. Reese will be competing in the Pro Bodyboard division this upcoming season and plans to travel to competitions to make a run at the US Title. “Each event is exciting and I plan to attend as many as I can, I am most eager to compete on the Gaylord Palms FlowRider Double and welcome flowboarders from all over the country to my home wave,” Reese added.
If you are interested in coming out to the FlowRider FLOW Tour Prime event at Gaylord Palms to cheer on local Pro Jon Reese and/or your favorite riders, Gaylord Palms and FLOW welcome you to enjoy all the action on and off the wave for a small fee. Specator admission is $5 for non-competitors and non-hotel guests. (Hotel guests are invited to enjoy viewing the competition for free.)
